Follow these simple steps ONLY IF INSTRUCTED BY THE DOCTOR.
ICE -20 Minutes of ice. Place the gel ice pack on the painful area with one layer of paper towel between your skin and the ice pack. Leave the ice pack in place for 20 minutes then remove it and wait 20 – 30 minutes before repeating this process.
WATER -Drink lots of water. How much depends on your weight. Take the number of pounds you weigh, cut that number in half and drink that number in ounces. For example, a 150 pound person should drink 75 ounces of water each day.
POTASSIUM – Take Potassium. One tablet or 99 mg a day with a meal for men, and three tablets a day for women.
BIOFREEZE -Rub Biofreeze into the area of pain 2 – 3 times a day.
NO prolonged bed rest. Get up and move around every ½ hour.
NO electric heating pads. It will feel good at first but you will increase the inflammation and you might feel worse the next day.
EXERCISE -Don’t start any new exercises, it might tighten your muscles and make your chiropractic correction more difficult.
The Doctor will instruct you on how to stretch and strengthen your muscles after he has had time to correct any problems. You can build up the muscles around all of his good work to help make a more permanent correction.
